"I work with young people and their families on learning to accept their sexuality."
"What are some common themes you've come across?"
"Young people who are male identified express that their family doesn't think they are a man anymore because they are gay. Lesbian identified women say their families think they want to become a man. Many bisexual women state their family thinks bisexuality doesn't exist and says they will probably end up with a man even though they are dating a woman."
"I try and tell young people that it took them a while to come out, so they should give their family some time to work through their feelings and learn to accept them."
